The Sun is the supreme body in our solar system. Without the Sun’s heat and light, the Earth would be a lifeless ball.

The Sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, generates our weather patterns, and gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life on Earth. Sunlight is the essential element from which all life originates and is energized (1,2).

Due to all of these magnificent powers of the sun, it is no wonder that it has inspired mankind throughout history. It has been worshiped from the earliest of times by many societies living in different parts of the world. Each civilization has a different story about it (3,4).

Many of the myths around the world reflect the need for direct sunlight as essential for their survival. For example, Indian mythology understands the role of the sun. In India, it was worshiped as “Surya” in ancient times. According to the Indian mythology, Surya was responsible for health and life, being the source of light and warmth (5).

How to Practice Sungazing

Sun-Gazing-Activacion-de-la-grandula-pinealSungazing (also known as sun-eating) is an ancient practice of gradually introducing sunlight into the eyes. It has become a popular practice, rediscovered through the work of people such as Hira Ratan Manek (HRM), a sun gazer who has spread the word with his talks around the world.

To practice it, you need to look at the rising or setting sun once per day, within the first hour after sunrise or before sunset, times on which the ultraviolet and infrared ray’s exposure is minimum, avoiding harm to the eyes and your body(6). This must be done standing on bare earth with bare feet and looking at the sun for only 10 seconds, while gradually increasing your practice by adding 10-second intervals each day. Following these rules makes the practice safe (7,8). Discontinue if you feel any discomfort and never practice this technique unless the sun is at it’s lowest angle with it’s the mildest intensity. The intention of this practice is an unfocused gaze toward the rising or setting sun. This is very different from ‘staring’ directly into the full sun, which would focus overly intense sunlight into the retina and cause acute damage to the eye.

After 9 months or 44 minutes, you should give up sungazing for the protection of the eye. The body will get discharged when stopping the practice, which has to be recharged. Walking on bare feet on bare earth for 45 minutes daily for a total of 6 days is recommended (8).

Sungazing Health Benefits

According to Ratan Manek there are many benefits attributed to this practice:

  • You will see your mind become more balanced.
  • You will become more positive in thinking.
  • Your mind will become stronger.
  • Fear of death will be reduced.
  • Your mental health and peacefulness will increase.
  • Your pineal gland will be activated
  • Your addictions will be reduced or removed completely.

This ultimately affects your whole body, because with a peaceful mind your body heals itself, letting go of allergies, asthma and all kinds of disease. Sleep disturbances are healed. It restores normal levels of melatonin and general endocrine health.  (7,8,9).

Safe Sungazing

Como-Hacer-Sun-Gazing-Activacion-de-la-grandula-pinealThe HRM method of safe sungazing can be practiced by anyone. It can be practiced anywhere in the world and all over the year in safe times. There are no restrictions. If you practice safe sungazing with faith and confidence, free from doubts, with the proper understanding, you will get perfect health for mind body and spirit (8,9).

The practitioner of safe sungazing, can also add to his practice, safe sun warming of the body which is needed for an overall good health (10), drinking and using sun charged water (9), and walking barefoot on bare earth with a good thick layer of warm soil, sand or dirt that is free from grass, in order to heal the body (8).

The root cause of all illness is that the body becomes weak. The body stops functioning properly and the more the darkness the more the disease. More sunlight empowers the body. All the body defenses increase and become stronger to fight disease. (8,9).

We have all looked at sunrises and sunsets for long periods with no harm. In the same way, if we start practicing safe sungazing in the hour of sunrise or the hour of sunset, we will get expanded health for mind, body and spirit.

Safe sungazing is a must for better health and for the alleviation of health problems. When safe sungazing is added with sun warming of the body, drinking sun charged water and walking barefoot on the bare earth, one easily gets cost-free health and the presence of a master or a guru is not required. One only has to understand the safe practice of sungazing and start practicing.

“Sungazing is a cost-free, guru-free practice that can free mankind from mental and physical disease and spiritual ignorance.” -HRM
